Sylvia Milo in The Other Mozart

Women in Performance kicked off with The Other Mozart on March 2 and 3. See coverage of the performance and series here.

Little Matchstick Factory's The Other Mozart, starring Sylvia Milo, is the true, forgotten story of Nannerl Mozart, the sister of Amadeus — the prodigy, keyboard virtuoso and composer performed throughout Europe with her brother, to equal acclaim, but her work and her story faded away, lost to history. Created by Milo, the monodrama is set in a stunning 18-foot dress (designed by Magdalena Dabrowska from the National Theater of Poland). Directed by Isaac Byrne, The Other Mozart is based on facts, stories and lines pulled directly from the Mozart family's humorous and heartbreaking letters.

Written and performed by Sylvia Milo. Directed by Isaac Byrne. Music composed by Nathan Davis and Phyllis Chen. Additional music by Marianna Martines, Leopold and W. A. Mozart. Created by Little Matchstick Factory.

An immersive performance
June 14-16 and 21-23, 2018

Melissa has found herself on yet another business trip, alone in a hotel. Holed up in room 305, she is left to wonder about the worth of her life, her self and her body, as those around her struggle to build the lives they long for. Can she do the same? Honey is a new work about women and how much they’re willing to give to get what they need.

Oklahoma Contemporary partnered with Fresh Paint, an aggregate of Oklahoma City performing artists, to produce the world premiere of Honey, inspired by interviews conducted in Oklahoma in 2017 and 2018. Katherine Wilkinson, queer director and creative producer based in New York City, directed.
